Red Hot Returns (Apps) showed up today only a couple of days after Happy Returns started blooming here in Philadelphia- a real surprise. RHR is registered as 28EMRe5. But since it's a Dip, I used the last of my Sunday's 'Lovely Margie' pollen on it and Happy Returns. Maybe I'll get a reblooming Parrot.
Key To My Heart (Carr 99) is new to my garden this year, but registered as an early.
Moonlit Masquerade showed off with two blooms today- a great daylily!
Here's the second bloom off my new 'Eskimo Kisses' (Trimmer 2002). Note the edges and eye are more muted than the catalog photos. Is that because it's new, or because it's not Florida? Probably both. But the diamond dusting on this is fantastic! It won't show up in photos or on a cloudy day.
Finally, my 'NOT Echos in the Mist' bloomed today. At least three sources apparently got this plant from the Salters, but they registered it as a lavender with no mention of an eye. But registered parents are Witches Wink (smaller but same colors) by Tet Little Print (Ivory cream with washed violet magenta eye) so I think this is the REAL Echos and the registration color is wrong. There is another "Echos" in the trade, with photos on Tinker's database, lavender but with an eye, so I think it's the "imposter". The Salters have bigger problems right now than which is the "real" Echos in the Mist. I'm thinking of renaming mine "Echos India Mystery" or "Echos India Mist" or 'Echos India Mussed' for the way it seersuckers in hot afternoon sun. You can see the "texturing" starting on the petals in this midmorning photo.
