Mike Huben Day in the Oates Garden

But first, I've got a new garden name for my (assumed) misregistered "Echos in the Mist" (SalterEH 2000). It's "Echos in Zindi Mist" for you Star Trek spinoffs fans. Why do I think this was misregistered as lavender instead of mustard with plum eye? Because the registered parents are Witches Wink x Tetra Little Print. Witches Wink looks very similar, but smaller. Little Print is cream with a dark eye. This looks like it could have come from those parents much more than a lavender with NO EYE. Rebuttals?
But today has been declared MIKE HUBEN DAY in the Oates garden; first full open for Sunshine on Clouds (Huben 06). 26ERe4.25 Dormand Diploid. Also scheduled for GSDG Auction September 12 (see previous listings).

Delicate Lace ffo today (Huben 03, 18ERe4, Dormant Diploid). Stella is a grandparent. This isn't a great example, but pretty good for a first bloom! And this is from the single fan I got to keep for babysitting it until the auction last year. It's definitely narrower than Sunshine on Clouds above, which has Happy Returns as one Grandparent. But BOTH have 1/4 Monica Marie in them.

Third Huben blooming today = Vanilla Stella. See more photos in earlier posts, but this one shows the flesh tint pretty accurately. MINE are measuring about 3.5 inches rather than the registered (Boston) 3.0 when they recurve like this. Sometimes the sepals don't recurve, but those photos won't get published by the sellers.

Finally, 4th Huben blooming today, we END with Begin With a Bang. I also had 3 Merlot Rouge bloom today, all blooming double (hose-in-hose). The Earlybirds are both going strong, as are Apple Pie Spice and Siloam Button Box. Hold Your Horses is awesome as usual. Kathy D'Alessandro had Paper Butterfly blooming yesterday, but I can't remember where mine is planted to check on it!
