July 6 Favorites at Jane Guillard's
The rain held off until late afternoon, so we got to enjoy Jane's collection of over 1200 cultivars at our leisure. This is Navajo Princess, registered by Florida's Ra Hanson in 1992 as mid late. Mine hasn't bloomed yet, but some of my others are ahead of hers. It's been a weird year.
Sabine Baur also hasn't bloomed for me yet. Salter 97
Long Stocking has never polytepaled for me, but it put on a show for the Garden State Daylily Growers tour. Count the stamens! You could pollinate the whole garden with this.
When I Dream (Yancey 79) has that presence that makes it identifiable from 50 feet away ("a 50 footer").

The rain held off but the table under the umbrella was still popular. That's about a quarter of Jane's garden in the background. DVDS AND GSDG members: she will again open her garden Sunday, July 13, 10 - 4 and you should see it! Directions are in the latest newsletters of both clubs.
